Flight Insurance

The Flight Insurance provides fixed compensation if your covered flight is delayed, cancelled, or diverted.

You may receive €100 per person if your flight on the outbound or return journey is:

  • Delayed and arrives 2 hours or more later than the scheduled arrival time at your final destination
  • Cancelled by the airline within 28 days before departure
  • Diverted and lands at a different airport than originally planned

The compensation is a fixed amount and does not depend on the cost of your ticket or additional expenses.

For more details, check your Terms and Conditions.

If your eligible flight is disrupted, you will receive:

  • €100 per person if your flight is delayed, cancelled, or diverted on your outbound or return journey.

Compensation applies only to flights included in your booking confirmation and listed in your insurance certificate.

For more details, check your Terms and Conditions.

A flight is considered delayed when the actual arrival time at the gate is at least 2 hours later than the scheduled arrival time shown on your ticket.

A flight is considered cancelled when the airline cancels your scheduled flight within 28 days before its planned departure date.

If the cancellation occurs more than 28 days before departure, it is not covered by this protection.

A flight diversion occurs when your flight lands at an airport different from the one originally scheduled, for reasons outside the traveller's control.

This protection applies only to the specific flight(s) included in your booking confirmation and insurance certificate.

The flight must be:

  • Operated by a commercial or low-cost airline with a published flight schedule, or
  • A charter flight listed on your ticket

The flight must depart from or arrive at an official commercial airport with a valid IATA code.

This protection does not cover losses or disruptions caused by:

  • War or military conflict
  • Nuclear or radioactive risks
  • Cyber incidents or cyber attacks
  • Air traffic disruptions lasting more than 7 consecutive days
  • Declared health emergencies, epidemics, or pandemics
  • Flights cancelled more than 28 days before departure
  • Flights cancelled by the traveller

For more details, check your Terms and Conditions.

You can add the Flight Insurance during the flight booking process on the Volotea website.

The option will appear in the "Peace of Mind" section before completing your purchase.

After payment, you will receive:

  • A confirmation email
  • Your Evidence of Insurance with the details of your cover

Please note that this protection cannot be added after the booking has been completed.

If your flight meets the conditions of the protection, Koala will contact you by email within three business days to confirm your eligibility and request your payment details.

Once your claim is approved, the compensation will be transferred to the bank account you provide.

If additional information or documents are required, our team may contact you.

We track eligible flights in real time, so in most cases you will not need to provide any documents to receive your compensation.

If we are able to confirm the delay, cancellation, or diversion through our flight tracking systems, your claim will be processed automatically.

However, in some situations we may ask you to provide supporting documents, such as:

  • Your flight ticket or booking confirmation
  • Proof of the delay, cancellation, or diversion

This may happen if we are unable to track the flight status, or if the tracked flight information is contested or unclear.

If the requested documents cannot be provided when required, compensation may not be granted.
